Taking Social Protection to the Community

We are a network of over 50 civil society and community organisations advocating for inclusive, transparent and accountable social protection in Malawi.

Who we are

Bringing civil society together for social protection

The CIVIL SOCIETY SOCIAL PROTECTION NETWORK (CSSPN) is a network of civil society and community-based organisations championing social protection advocacy in Malawi to reduce vulnerability and poverty.

Established in 2022, we bring civil society together to make sure social protection is well-funded, well-governed and reaches every community.

“At the heart of CSSPN is the belief that social protection is a human right — not a privilege.”

Over 50% of Malawians live below the national poverty line.

“Poverty anywhere is a threat to prosperity everywhere.”

Malawi is one of the world's least-developed countries. Strong, inclusive social protection is how we protect the poor and vulnerable — and build a fairer society for everyone.
